How it works

No transfers, no delays. Here’s the whole ride.

Everything happens in one smooth line: you pick a session, tell me about your kid, we meet on Zoom, and you leave with a plan. Platform Talks and Single Rides book and pay in one place. Ride the Line and All Stops start with a free Fit Check so we can confirm the scope first.

1 · Pick your ride

Four tiers, from a $35 group session to full-season support. Each one is described plainly enough on the Work with Me page that you can choose without emailing first. Not sure? Start small. You can always ride further.

2 · Book your next step

Platform Talks and Single Rides are booked and paid for through Acuity. Ride the Line and All Stops begin with a free Fit Check, and the scope and payment arrangements are confirmed afterward. Either way, your Zoom link is generated automatically and arrives with your confirmation email.

3 · Fill out the intake form

A short intake form helps me prepare for your session, and it’s the reason we start at full speed instead of with introductions. It also includes a required professional-conflict check. If I cannot accept the booking, I will cancel it promptly and issue a full refund.

I read every intake form before every session. Personalized from minute one.

4 · Get friendly reminders

A confirmation right away, a reminder the day before, and a nudge an hour out with the Zoom link front and center. You will not lose the link in your inbox at 6:55pm.

5 · Meet on Zoom

Sixty focused minutes (or a group Platform Talk, if that’s your stop). Real answers about real schools: screened programs, the SHSAT, Ed Opt, your actual list. In plain English, with zero judgment for any question.

This is the part a spreadsheet won’t give you: how programs are structured, what to ask about workload and support, and how to read the answers you get back.

6 · Leave with a plan

After the session you get a recap email: what we covered, your next steps, and the dates that matter for your family. If a longer package makes sense, I’ll say so, and if it doesn’t, I’ll say that too.

Good to know

A few things parents ask before booking

When should we start?
Applications open in the fall of 8th grade, so 7th grade spring through 8th grade September is the sweet spot for getting oriented. Already mid-season and panicking? That’s what Single Ride is for. Deadline triage is a specialty. Planning earlier (5th or 6th grade) or eyeing a 10th or 11th grade transfer? Both are welcome; the process just looks a little different.
What if we’re new to the New York City public school system?
You’re exactly who this was built for. This practice is designed for families new to the city, new to the country, coming from private or charter schools, or just new to a process nobody explains. We start from wherever you are. No term goes untranslated.
Do you cover private or charter schools?
No, and that’s on purpose. NYC public high school admissions is the entire practice. If you want private school consulting, I’m happy to say so plainly: I’m not your person.
Do you help with SHSAT prep?
Not directly. Tutoring is a separate discipline and it isn’t part of these sessions. What I can do is help you decide whether the SHSAT is worth your kid’s time at all, which is the more consequential question and the one almost nobody asks first. If you want tutor names, ask and I’ll point you toward a few starting places.
My child has an IEP or 504 plan. Can you help?
Yes. This is one of the things I know best. I’m a certified special education teacher with more than fifteen years in NYC classrooms, and questions about program fit, what supports a school actually provides day to day, and how admissions works for students with IEPs are welcome in every tier.
What do sessions cost?
Platform Talks (group) are $35 per booking, which covers your household on one screen. A Single Ride 1:1 is $225. Ride the Line (three sessions) is $599, and All Stops full-season support starts at $1,200. Full pricing is on the Work with Me page. No hidden anything.
